Shake Shake Brings Back The Hot Chick’n Sandwich, Plus New Spicy Fries

Food & Drink

The weather may be cooling down, but Shake Shack is heating up fall by bringing back their fan favorite Hot Chick’n sandwich. One of the most requested Shake Shack items, this spicy version of the classic Chick’n Shack sandwich is back for the third year (after skipping 2019), starting Tuesday, September 1.

“We’re thrilled to bring Hot Chick’n back for a third time, we’ve been planning it for a while and know our fans will be excited to see, “ said Mark Rosati, Culinary Director at Shake Shack, who led development of the Hot Chick’n sandwich. “We love experimenting with spice. It’s not just about high heat levels, but about craveable, intriguing flavors that’ll make guests keep coming back for more, no matter how bad the heat burns! When developing our Hot Chick’n sandwich, we were focused on doing it in an elevated way, inspired by our deep culinary roots and always with a focus on premium ingredients.”

So what makes the Hot Chick’n so good? Like all the meat served at Shake Shack, it’s made with hormone-free, antibiotic-free chicken breast, which is slow-cooked in a creamy buttermilk marinade, hand-dipped into Shack-made batter, dredged through seasoned flour and crisp-fried. To add spice, the fried chicken cutlet is dusted with a guajillo and cayenne pepper blend, topped with signature cherry-pepper slaw and pickles, all served on a potato bun.

All four Hot Chick’n items are available in two spice levels, Hot and Extra Hot, but those who order through Shack App or order.shakeshack.com can get access to a third, semi-secret spice level: Fire.
